A Message from Athletic Director Jeff Wiley:
When
I graduated from Jefferson in 1988, I never expected to return to the
College. I enrolled at JCC after graduating from Thousand Islands Central
School and enjoyed the privilege of playing basketball for long-time
basketball coach and former athletic director Robert F. Williams, Sr.
From Jefferson, I transferred to SUNY Cortland and earned a bachelor’s
degree in physical education. Degree in hand, I returned to JCC as an
athletic technical specialist. In 1994, I earned a master’s of
sports science/sports management from the U.S. Sports Academy and was
then appointed physical education instructor at JCC in 1995. For thirteen
years, I coached the women’s basketball team, earning 240 career
wins, two Region III championships, one National Runner-Up and two MSAC
championships.
As a former player, alumni of the College, and former coach, I can attest to the commitment of Jefferson Community College to our student athletes. Strong support services and instructors contributed to my success as a student and an as athlete, and I am committed to providing the same for our current Cannoneers. We strive to provide our athletes with the best co-curricular mix and the opportunity to achieve athletic and academic success.
Jefferson Athletics has a rich tradition of success on the field and off. As the director of athletics, I am committed, through our services and continued improvements to our facilities and programs, to provide an outstanding athletic experience at the two-year college level.
