Webmaster

Jefferson Community College, located in northern New York State near the shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, currently serves 3,600 full- and part-time students pursuing credit courses in Liberal Arts, Science, and Business Divisions for transfer or career programs. The College is seeking a full-time tenure-track Webmaster, to begin this summer.

The webmaster will work as an integral part of a team to develop and maintain the official College website and web applications, ensuring ADA compliance, and to integrate the website with other web applications and the College portal. The candidate will assist the team in providing technical support to the campus. Some evening hours may be required.

Required: Bachelor’s degree (conferred by June 1, 2008); experience with webpage development and design, X/HTML, CSS, CGI, Java, and JavaScript, web server installation and maintenance, graphics and web-based multimedia creation and editing; excellent interpersonal and communications skills; and ability to work with differing levels of technology users.

Preferred: Master’s degree; experience with Adobe and/or Macromedia web development products, content management systems, integration and development of web databases, search engines and other web development languages.

Learning Skills Specialist

Jefferson Community College, located in northern New York State near the shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River, currently serves 3,500 students pursuing credit courses in Liberal Arts, Math and Science, and Business for transfer or career purposes. 

The College is seeking a 12 month tenure-track Learning Skills Specialist beginning in June to coordinate disability services for students and to direct incoming student testing and assessment. This professional will work cooperatively with students, staff, faculty, agencies and family members to provide disability services.

Required: Bachelor’s degree; three years appropriate professional experience; excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; commitment to assisting students with disabilities; and the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred: Degree in special education, education or related field; familiarity with assistive technologies and disability law; experience working with disabled students; and knowledge of individual needs assessment.

Vice President for Academic Affairs

Jefferson Community College is searching for a dynamic, proven academic leader with a strong history of promoting innovation in curriculum and instruction to assume the responsibility of chief academic officer. The Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible to the President for the development, implementation and evaluation of all academic programming; and for the supervision and evaluation of instructional personnel. The Vice President for Academic Affairs acts as liaison to SUNY’s Office of the Provost, chairs the College’s Academic Council, is a member of the President’s Administrative Cabinet, participates in the strategic planning process, Middle States accreditation process, and serves as Chief Administrative Officer in the absence of the President.

Jefferson Community College’s next Academic Vice President will be a person with the highest levels of integrity, honesty, and ethics, and a demonstrated academic leader; someone with proven success in developing new programs and new delivery formats; a commitment to improving student learning outcomes for a diverse student body, and experience with accreditation; someone with a dedication and passion for the open door aspect of community colleges and a track record of leadership in enhancing enrollments; a leader who creates a collective vision and implements that vision.

The successful candidate must possess a Master’s degree with preference given to candidates with an earned doctorate;  a minimum of seven years of demonstrated leadership in academic areas including matters of curriculum, personnel, planning, budget, and community partnerships;  successful experience in full-time college teaching, preferably at a community college; outstanding communications and organizational skills; a demonstrated ability to balance strong, action-oriented collaborative leadership with collegial decision-making;  and the capacity to influence change within a complex academic environment.

Jefferson Community College is located in one of the most beautiful geographic areas of New York State, near the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, within 30 minutes of the Thousand Islands and the Canadian border. ADJUNCT INSTRUCTORS

Jefferson Community College, one of 64 campuses comprising the State University of New York (SUNY) system, located in the Thousand Islands Region of Upstate New York, is within driving distance of the Adirondack Mountains, Lake Ontario, and Canada.  Nearby is the U.S. Army installation of Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division.  Currently, Jefferson County is experiencing significant economic growth and development.  The College serves approximately 3600 full and part-time students pursuing associates degrees and certificates in more than 30 programs, within a vibrant and inviting academic atmosphere.
