The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble is returning to Jefferson Community College for a performance that promises to please! Again this year, the group will be joined by members of the Watertown High School Wind Ensemble and a new guest, the Fort Drum 12:30 Gospel Service Choir. This year’s theme is “Silver Screen Spectacular!” and will feature familiar themes from movies including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Mary Poppins and the Magnificent Seven in addition to tunes from the music of Henry Mancini and the Midway March.
The concert will take place on Saturday, October 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the Robert R. and Jean S. Sturtz Theater at Jefferson Community College. Seating is limited. Advance sale tickets are $15.00 per person and can be purchased by calling the JCC Foundation at 315-786-2458. Tickets are also available at Fast Lube of Watertown locations. Proceeds benefit the JCC Foundation which distributes 170 scholarships to students annually, totaling over $180,000.
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. James Spencer, is comprised of thirty-eight members of the Syracuse University faculty and staff, the SUNY Upstate Medical University faculty and staff, as well as accomplished musicians from surrounding communities. Together, the talented ensemble of brass musicians and percussionists achieve a vibrant sound that ranges from soulful to exhilarating.
The 46-member Watertown High School Wind Ensemble is comprised of their instrumental music program's most talented and dedicated musicians and is conducted by Andrea Wischerath.
The 12:30 Gospel Service Choir is comprised of 15 soldiers, family members and local residents. The choir is based at Fort Drum and has been in existence for several years.
