Heldt & Martusewicz Named JCC Co-Athletes of the Week
Freshman goalie Devin P. Heldt, of the Jefferson Community College (JCC) men's lacrosse team, and freshman mid-fielder Maria A. Martusewicz, of the Jefferson's women's lacrosse team, were named JCC co-athletes of the week for the week ending April 28, 2008. JCC's athlete of the week program is sponsored by Victory Promotions.
Heldt, a 2007 graduate of Cicero North Syracuse High School, is majoring in liberal arts at JCC. Devin's accomplishments on the field during the past week include stopping 21 shots to shutdown Cobleskill Community College, in a 10-9 overtime victory for JCC. A day later, Heldt also stopped 21 shots by a very powerful Delhi Community College offense to secure the win for Jefferson in a 13-10 decision. Devin was given the MVP for both games by his fellow teammates. He is also ranked in the top 8 in the region with 320 saves on the year.
Martusewicz, a 2007 graduate of Waterown High School, is majoring in liberal arts at Jefferson. Maria's accomplishments on the field during the past week include 3 goals and 2 assists against Herkimer Community College and 3 ground balls against Monroe Community College.
