The financial aid office at Jefferson Community College (JCC) is sponsoring the 7th annual College Scholarship and Financial Aid Fair on Monday, February 4, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Jules Center Commons, Building 6.
During the college scholarship and financial aid fair, JCC students can learn about higher education funding opportunities, particularly scholarships, but also loans, grants and student employment.
Through the Jefferson Community College Foundation, more than 170 scholarships for the Fall 2008 semester are available for freshman and continuing students, including non-traditional and active duty soldiers. Scholarships range from $500 to full tuition. The Foundation added twenty-three new scholarships this past year!
While the majority of the Foundation’s scholarships are need-based, the Jefferson-Can Scholars Program, now in its second year, awards freshman scholarships up to full tuition to students in the top 15% of their graduating class from high schools located in Jefferson and Lewis counties. The program is non-competitive, meaning all that are eligible and complete the application can attend JCC tuition free for their first year of study.
Scholarship applications are available to download from JCC's website, http://www.sunyjefferson.edu/financial_aid/fa_forms.html or by contacting the JCC financial aid office at 315-786-2355.
Persons interested in establishing a scholarship through the JCC Foundation can contact Rande S. Richardson, executive director, at 315-786-2291 or at rrichardson@sunyjefferson.edu.
