Planning officials will have the opportunity to learn more about the role of the NYS Department of Health and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation with regard to local planning board project reviews and decisions on Wednesday, May 21, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Jefferson Community College in the Jules Center Amphitheater, Room 6-002. The land use planning workshop explores regional permits and how state regulatory reviews relate to local board actions.
Thomas Boxberger, NYS Department of Health District Administrator, will address topics relating to regulatory activities including water supplies, major subdivisions, restaurants, hotels/motels and mobile home parks. Larry Ambeau, Regional Permit Administrator with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, will present an overview of permits administered by his office including storm water permits, dock permits and coastal erosion control permits. A question and answer period will follow both speakers.
The workshop is free admission and can be used to fulfill two hours of NYS Municipal Training requirement once approved by the attendee’s municipality. Pre-registration is required by Monday, May 19th.
