In celebration of diversity, The Gallery at Jefferson Community College (JCC) has announced the theme for the 27th annual photography contest, “So Many Differences, So Much Alike.” The annual photography contest is co-sponsored by Severance Photo of Watertown.
This year’s stimulating theme “So Many Differences, So Much Alike” is designed to inspire photographers of all abilities to focus on scenes that bring cultural differences and similarities to the art of photography. Whether in nature, everyday life, or special gatherings, the theme is open to interpretation, but should depict diversity throughout the world. The photographs will be judged on composition, technical merit and image expression of the theme.
Entries will be accepted beginning Monday, February 4, 2008. Entries must be received in the student activities center (McVean Center, room 4-100) by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 29.
Entry forms as well as contest rules and regulations can be downloaded as a PDF or are available at the student activities center at Jefferson and at Severance Photo located on Court Street in Watertown. Prizes will be awarded for Grand Prize, First and Second places, and Honorable Mention. Winners will be announced on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. during a public awards ceremony and reception held at The Gallery. The Gallery is located on the second level of the Jules Center, Building 6, and is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. when classes are in session.
All contest entries will be on display at The Gallery at Jefferson Community College from March 10 through April 11, 2008. Beginning April 14, the photos will be on display at Severance Photo through May 30.
