Kenyon Wells

In Heaven There is No Beer

Empty quart beer bottles
At three for a dollar
They found his fortune
Standing in unbroken ranks
On the dirty floor.
He was there, too,
Reduced but also unbroken,
Shaped by his fortune and,
In death, just as empty.
