House of Ruin

Too soon you abandoned
your addition. The hammering
of hope halted leaving
the frame of yellow pine exposed
to an early frost

You left for an ungrateful
bitch calling for more. Now
the children are split
the dog has run away and I’m left here
with an empty swing.
