Academic Coaching
The Academic Coaching program is designed to help you succeed academically. Anyone who wants to learn how to balance life and school, create goals for themselves, and to increase their motivation to succeed is encouraged to be a part of this special program. It is especially helpful if you have experienced academic difficulty or gotten off track. Counselors serve as the academic coach to help identify and improve current strengths, help students overcome challenges encountered along the way.
Academic Coaches:
- Provide you with skills and strategies they may need to become a self-regulated learner
- Help you understand and utilize effective learning strategies
- Help identify and remove obstacles that can impede academic progress
- Focus your individual goals and help identify the steps and means by which to reach them
- Work with you to develop strong time-management skills and organizational strategies
- Motivate you to take ownership of their own academic success
- Refer you to other services on campus which may help meet specific identified needs
Remember, ultimately you are responsible for what you learn--take advantage of all opportunities!
