Employment Opportunities Professional, Clerical, Student, Auxiliary

Full-Time Professional (non-teaching)

The College hires professionals to work in business and student support services. Full-time positions may be tenure track and are usually 12 months. Positions reporting to the College President are non-tenure track. For full-time professional positions, the College recruits nationally, regionally, and locally. Advertisements are posted at national sites, such as The Chronicle of Higher Education,, regionally at the Watertown Daily Times (Sunday edition), locally at Fort Drum, at the NYS Dept. of Labor, and on the College’s website, It is important, when applying, to provide all materials which are requested in an advertisement. National searches may take approximately 10 weeks to complete.

Part-Time Professional Positions

The College appoints part-time personnel to assist students in areas such as advising and tutoring. Many of the positions have limited hours and provide a rewarding chance to work with students in need of study skills or basic tutoring in English, mathematics, accounting, and science. Letters of interest in these areas should be sent to the Human Resources Office with an employment application and a resume. Applications are accepted at any time.

NYS Civil Service Positions

The College employs support staff as secretaries, cleaners, recreation assistants, laboratory assistants, account clerks, computer operators, technicians, stenographers, and maintenance staff. A critical component of the College’s workforce, individuals are hired through the New York State Civil Service process and chosen from hiring lists provided from Jefferson County Human Resources, with the lists comprised of persons who have successfully passed the appropriate competitive civil service examination. Cleaners, as a labor class, are hired directly by the College; for cleaning positions, a civil service application should be submitted with a letter indicating interest, to JCC’s Human Resources Office. Student Employment

Auxiliary Services

Business enterprises or auxiliary services are managed for the College by the Faculty Student Association. Positions include accounting, bookstore, child care and food service. FSA Employment Application.
