Academic Tutoring - The Tutoring Center and JCC Library provide academic support for all types of learners.  The Center and Library are open Sunday through Friday and offer one-to-one, small group, and online support in a comfortable, modern space that accommodates staff-supported assistance or independent study. Some outstanding features of this space include group study rooms, a quiet study area, collaborative space, as well as scanning and color printing capabilities. The Library also has laptops, iPads, and desktop computers for student use, and students are welcome to bring drinks and light refreshments to the Center and Library.  Professional tutors provide one-on-one and lab assistance in math, writing, reading and technology skills.  Online assistance is available to accommodate your schedule. Student tutors are available to you either individually or in small groups for any course you are seeking increased course success. Accommodation and Accessibility Services - JCC provides access to reasonable accommodations for each qualified student with a physical, learning or mental disability through individualized services, specialized equipment, and a supportive environment as well as by encouraging student self-reliance and independence. The Accommodative Services Office provides both academic and resident hall accommodations based on appropriate documentation.  A Disability Specialist acts as the liaison between the qualified student and the JCC faculty and staff as the student pursues educational goals. Academic Coaching - Academic Assistance programs are designed to help students plan for success by identifying individual academic strengths and opportunities for growth. Through building a relationship with an Academic Coach you will build confidence, restore motivation and self-reliance, and improve your academic and life skills.  Academic Coachingprovides support for students in improving grades, promotes goal attainment and completion of a degree. Career Planning and Job Placement - The Career Planning and Job Placement Service at Jefferson is designed to meet the vocational, educational, and employment needs of our students and alumni, as well as the employment needs of campus, local, regional, and national employers.  Career Counseling is provided as students determine their career directions; plan or change their academic Majors, or prepare for advanced study.  Related Job Placement activities offer practical assistance to students seeking an advanced degree or employment.  All services are offered on an individual basis and also brought in to JCC Classrooms, Club Meetings, Workshops, Career Fairs, and various other venues and address topics such as Personality and Career Assessment, Cover Letter and Resume Development, Employment Interviewing, Job Employment Techniques, Job Shadowing, Employment and Military Recruitment. Enrollment Services Center - The staff in the Enrollment Services Center provides academic advisement and course registration assistance for new students. We also assist students with transfer credit evaluation, changing majors, schedule revisions and interpreting degree audits.  Appointments are preferred.

Opportunity Programs

  • TRIO ProgramsStrategies to Achieve Results (S.T.A.R.) STAR is a federally-funded intensive support program currently serving 160 students. STAR serves as a centralized location for its participants, assisting them with the necessary tools to be successful. Our mission is to provide support outside of the classroom to assist students in persisting each year towards graduation and/or transfer to a four year college.   • Education Opportunity Program (EOP)
  • CSTEP: The Jefferson Community College CSTEP program promotes students’ academic success in preparation for majors leading to careers in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields and/or licensed professions. To be eligible for the program students must be a New York State Resident, be a full time student (12 credit hours), identify as African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Native/Alaskan American OR Meet economic eligibility guidelines, and be pursuing a career in health related field and/or licensed professional field. CSTEP students will have opportunities for supplemental instruction, have a faculty mentor, participate in trips/tours and conference opportunities, as well as paid internships and research opportunities. Personal Counseling – The Counseling Center provide a warm, welcoming, safe, empathetic, and easily accessible counseling experience.  All services are free and confidential.  We offer a broad range of services to enhance personal growth and development which include: Short term counseling services, referrals to community, counseling and resources, campus food pantry, crisis intervention services, and connections to services for Active Duty and Veteran students and dependents.

Transfer Services -The College Transfer Services at JCC provide students with resources and assistance for the process of transferring to other colleges. Those services include individualized transfer counseling and assisting students with college transfer applications, essays and portfolios; scheduling visits with college admissions recruiters and coordinating special transfer events; maintaining a JCC website with transfer links/resources and publishing monthly college transfer bulletins; and coordinating program update sessions for academic/faculty advisors and general college transfer advocacy.  For information about our Transfer services, to initiate a request for eligibility review, or to access reasonable accommodations, contact (315) 786-2288, or stop by the John W. Veterans Services - The JCC Veteran Services Office supports veterans, service members, and dependents in achieving individual academic goals, promoting academic and social integration; and maximizing college, community, and national resources in support of student success. Our services and resources include a Veterans Lounge, Dedicated study areas for Veterans, the JCC Veterans Association, and Veterans only tutoring services.
