Tutoring
The Scanlon Tutoring Center, in Room 5-101 of the Melvil Dewey Library Building, provides free face-to-face, small group and online tutoring to all full- and part-time JCC students, by appointment and on a walk-in basis.
Detailed information about services, appointment scheduling, tutor availability, and walk-in lab schedules are available on Blackboard, click Community, My Organizations, Academic Support and Tutoring, as well as links to other writing, math, and study skills resources.
The LSC pursues learning excellence by asking that:
Tutors…
- be knowledgeable in their tutoring discipline or subject
- be respectful and civil
- be prompt and prepared for tutoring sessions
- be open-minded and capable of meeting the needs of a diversity of learners
- maintain student confidentiality
Students…
- be willing to make and keep appointments
- be able to civilly interact with tutors, LSC staff, and other students
- be willing to accept feedback and to reach compromises about what can be reasonably accomplished

Online Tutoring
The Jefferson professional tutor staff also offer tutoring through Collaborate, an online web-conferencing. Remember to plan ahead of your assignment due dates when making an appointment!
