Certification and Pre-Certification Programs
The Continuing Education Division at JCC offers several certificate and pre-certification workshops both on campus and through online partners. Online offerings include: Defensive Driving, Project Management & Green Energy certifications. On campus certification programs include: ServSafe & our Certified Personal Trainer Prep Course.
There is money available from the Department of Defense to pay for these workshops and other online certification courses. Military spouses may inquire about the “My Career Advancement Account” (MyCAA) by calling Mr. Don Johnson, Director of Military Programs at Fort Drum at 315-773-4535.
Notary Public Prep Course
The Notary Prep Course is now offered once a month to better accommodate the high demand for this training. The test will no longer be held in Watertown. However, the test is offered every Tuesday at a location in Syracuse. This workshop will help you to prepare for the test. Attendees can select from one date below to prepare for the test. This is a seminar to prepare individuals for the NY State notary public exam.

Project Management Online
TheCourse™ teaches the core competencies of project management. It covers the five process groups and nine knowledge areas of PMBOK, the PMP code of ethics and professional conduct, and a review of general management topics that are in the PMP examination. Project management is an evolving profession, and employers are increasingly requiring that their project managers be certified. The online edition of TheCourse is the curriculum of choice of an increasing number of colleges and universities across the United States. It is Java/browser-driven, multi-media, consisting of 650 web pages with voice plus some four dozen related linked papers. It can be started at any time and taken at the student's pace. Course materials for TheCourse™ include PMI's Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge 4th Edition (PMBOK®), workbooks tailored for TheCourse™ and TheTest™, a Test Engine containing 1,000 exam-like questions, to download and use on your own Intel-based computer. Jefferson Community College (JCC) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at JCC have collaborated to offer workshops each semester that span topics relevant to any emerging business.
Defensive Driving Online
Did the long arm of the law catch you speeding? Do you need to take a defense driving course to reduce your insurance rates? If so JCC now offers the course online. It’s a convenient way for you to access the test. In collaboration with the American Safety Council, JCC is pleased to provide the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles defensive driving course online. The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Online Defensive Driving Course provides the same benefits as the classroom version with a 10% reduction off the base rate of a motorist’s liability and collision insurance premiums and a reduction of up to four points off a motorist’s driving record. Motorists have up to 30 days from their registration date to complete the course and have the option of logging in and out as many times needed until course completion. Registration (PDF) for the pre-certification workshops above are through the Continuing Education Division at Jefferson Community College. DON’T WAIT. REGISTER TODAY. Workshops require a minimum number of participants in order to run. If a workshop is canceled due to insufficient enrollment you will be notified 5-days prior to the start of the workshop and a refund will be issued.

Workshop Discounts
Members of AUSA, CSEA, Greater Watertown North Country Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Watertown Jaycees as well as Jefferson alumni are entitled to a $5.00 discount off any non-credit workshop. A membership card must be presented at time of registration.
