Vegetarian Meals for Teenagers (Grades 8–12)
Filled with insanely easy recipes, this workshop will get teen vegetarians into the kitchen and cooking up delicious vegetarian party snacks and complete meals for the entire family in no time. Teens will also learn how to choose the best vegetables from a farmer’s market or vegetable garden. (CED 311 701)

Teen Survival Cooking: The Basics (Grades 8–12)

Lost-Proofing (Grades 1-6)
Moments count when a child is lost. This class will teach children how to assemble the necessary items that will enable them, if lost, to be found by search teams in 3 days or less. Children will learn to walk silently in the woods and to learn from the birds and wildlife.Parents are encouraged to accompany their child at no cost. Weeklong Camps
Hip Hop Dance (Grades 5-8)
It’s hip! It’s happening! It’s now! It’s hip hop! Begin with some funky warm-ups, followed by some jammin’ variations and combos to get into the groove. This workshop is very much for the young at heart, but is beneficial to dancers of all levels and talent. (CED 815 701)

Art Mania! (Grades 1–6)
Do you love art? Join Art Mania and learn the basics of drawing using pencils and pastels, dabble in clay, collage and more. (CED 806 701)

Computer Kids! (Grades 5–8)
This camp is an opportunity for kids to learn geometry in a fun manner! Using specialized software, kids will direct a character on the computer screen to create angles and calculate distances. Prerequisite: Students must be nominated by their school to attend; and must have a strong interest in science, technology, computers or mathematics. Space is limited to 15 participants. 3 C’s – Even Wetter! (Ages 7 and up)
Students will survey plant, fish, and invertebrate communities, along with some water chemistry and energy flow properties in a local stream, pond and small lake. We will be in and out of these freshwater habitats continuously collecting data to identify similarities and differences - bring extra clothes every day! (CED 804 702)

Outdoor Survival Skills (Grades 7-12)
Learn to survive in the wilderness even if you lose your backpack. Learn primitive shelter building, water collection, fire-making,plant gathering, cooking,heightened sensory awareness, silent movement or stalking, hunting and trapping, and the philosophies of living in harmony with the earth. Yoga for Young People (Grades 8–12)

Camp Med (Grades 5-8)
Jefferson Community College and Samaritan Medical Center (SMC) bring you Camp Med – a combination of career exploration and hands-on demonstrations including a dissection experience. Junior Chefs (Grades 5-8)

Steel Drum Summer (Grades 7 and up)
The jumbie is a playful Caribbean spirit and when you enjoy something, it is said you have been “bitten by the jumbie”. The steel pan has a magical sound that instantly conjures images of Caribbean beaches and swaying palms. Learn a few easy-to-play songs on the Caribbeans’s signature instrument. Soon we believe you, too, will be bitten by the “pan jumbie!” The instructor is the director of the River Rat Rhythm Project Steel Drum Band. (CED 833 701)

Jefferson CSI (Grades 5-8)
Do you love a good mystery? Put your crime solving abilities to the test and spend the week learning to be a crime scene investigator. Develop detective skills such as lifting fingerprints and learn the secrets behind how crimes are solved from a real crime scene investigator. (CED 817 701)

Rho-βotix (Grades 5–8)
Learn the fundamentals of robotic design starting with basic principles of motion control using Lego Mind Storm kits. Basic electrical circuitry will be taught as well as sensor design. Motor control will be introduced with the use of H-bridges, servo motors and stepper motors. Finally, the use of more advanced microcontrollers, such as the PIC 16F84, will also be explored. Prerequisite: Students must be nominated by their school to attend; and must have a strong interest in science, technology, computers or mathematics. Space is limited to 15 participants.
