Online Classes Additional Information

SLN vs. Blackboard?
JCC is transitioning its online courses from SLN classic to Blackboard. You may be taking some of each this semester. The course content is the same, but access and functionality are a little different.

If you are new to online learning at JCC, PLEASE read the Related Links (in the left frame) before going to your online course.

Jefferson Community College is currently transitioning to a different online course delivery system called Blackboard. For Winter 2008 and Spring 2009, some courses will be on Blackboard while some will remain on the SUNY Learning Network (SLN). By Fall 2009, ALL of JCC’s online courses will have been converted to Blackboard.

For Winter 2008 (12/22/08 - 01/13/09) - you can start doing coursework as of 12/15/08. The winter courses are 15-week classes compressed into a 4-week time frame. It is estimated that between 30-35 hours of study time per week is needed to succeed in a 4-week class. Due to the accelerated pace, we strongly recommend students to start doing coursework as of 12/15/08.

For Spring 2009 Early Session (01/20/09 – 03/16/09) – you can start doing coursework as of 01/13/09 – a week ahead of the official start date of January 20 th.

For Spring 2009 Regular Session (01/20/09 - 05/14/09) - you can start doing coursework as of 01/13/09 – a week ahead of the official start date of January 20 th.

For Spring 2009 Late Session (03/18/09 - 05/14/09) - you can start doing coursework as of 03/11/09 - a week ahead of the official start date of March 18 th.
