Steps for Getting Started in Credit Coursework
If your goal is to obtain a degree or certificate from JCC, you should also contact the Admissions Office for more in-depth information.
However, if you just want to enroll in a JCC course, or if you are already enrolled at JCC, go to Step 4.
- Review the JCC Programs of Study from the Academic Programs, then use the "Back" button to return to this page. We suggest you print out the program of study you selected, and keep it available for future reference.
- When you have selected the program of study you wish to pursue, go to the Admissions Page and follow the instructions. You can download the free admission application (PDF) for credit courses. Return to this page when you have completed the admissions application process.
- Fill out the application, forward it to the Admissions Office, comply with all admissions requirements, and be admitted to JCC.
- Note: Math, Reading and Writing assessment testing may be required.
Apply for Financial Aid. (Optional)
If you are considering using financial aid, you should apply as early as possible. Contact Financial Aid (e-mail financialservices@sunyjefferson.edu or call 315-786-2355) for an application packet.
- If you are considering an online course please test your computer system.
- If you are considering transfer into a SUNY baccalaureate program, check the SUNY General Education Information.
- Preview the JCC Class schedule to select the classes you want. Course Descriptions are available for more information.
- Choose one of the following registration options:
- Current JCC Students: Make an appointment with your assigned academic advisor. After your advising session, your advisor will open your registration access on SOAR. When registration opens, you will be expected to register for classes via SOAR.
- New/Transfer/Previous JCC Students: Please contact the JCC Advising Center to schedule an appointment with an advisor who will provide assistance with the course selection and registration process.
- Download the following forms:
- Registration Form (PDF)
- The proper Certificate of Residence Form (Jefferson County Resident (PDF) or non–Jefferson County Resident (PDF)). If you are not a resident of New York State, do not complete the Certificate of Residence Form.
- Payment Authorization Form (PDF) or Payment Authorization Form (RTF)
- If you have applied for an online course, go to the SUNY Learning Network Student Gateway and follow the on-screen instructions to request your password and begin the Student Orientation.
