Welcome! This is sure to be an exciting year for Jefferson Community College as we celebrate the College’s 50th Anniversary!
On November 7, 1961, the citizens of Jefferson County voted by referendum to establish a community college. Throughout our anniversary year we will celebrate the past 50 years and we will also look toward our future. This is indeed an exciting time at Jefferson Community College. We are providing a high quality educational experience to record numbers of students in new and innovative ways. Despite the economic challenges of our state and of the country, we are optimistic about our future and committed to serving the learning needs of our community. We have much to be proud of and much yet to come.
The history of the College is all about people. The early visionary pioneers who created the college. The people who taught and worked with students. The people who served as trustees and administrators. The 18,000 plus alums and over 90,000 students who have attended the college. The organizations and businesses that have partnered with the college. The elected officials who have provided oversight and funding. The numerous community members who have so generously given their support. Each is an integral part of our history and we want to celebrate each and every one. We have so many stories to tell and so many people to acknowledge and appreciate. The information on this website only begins to tell the stories of those who shaped the college.
