Tuition, Fees, and Costs

The costs of attending college are both direct and indirect. Direct costs are tuition, fees, books—things that students pay directly to the college. Indirect costs are things like transportation, room & board, and childcare. Students may not pay the costs directly to the college, but they are costs associated with going to college. Indirect costs may vary based on individual circumstances.

Tuition and Fee Schedule 2009–2010 Academic Year

Tuition and fees are due at registration and may be paid by MasterCard, VISA, Discover, AMS Tuition Pay, cash, check, or money order. Checks should be made payable to ‘Jefferson Community College.’ Students are not officially enrolled until all charges have been paid. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Tuition

Tuition refunds are based on semester length and withdrawal date.

Fees

All fees are non-refundable.

Comprehensive Student Fee

  • Fall and Spring Semesters: $11/credit hour
  • Summer Session: $2/credit hour

Insurance

  • Accident (mandatory): $18/year
  • Sickness (optional): $160/year

Fitness Center

  • Screening Fee: $15 one-time charge
  • Usage Fee: $30/semester

Course- or Program-based Fees

  • Directed Study Processing Fee: $5/course
  • Credit by Examination Fee: $15/credit hour
  • Online Learning Fee: $12/credit hour
  • Technology Fee: $4/credit hour
  • Dental Hygiene Program Fee (Monroe CC): $3,324/semester

Service Fees

  • SUNY Card Replacement: $10
  • Transcript: $6/copy
  • Document/Check Replacement: $5/copy
  • Health Transcript: $5/copy
  • Facsimile: $5/occurrence
  • Alumni Fee (optional): $10/semester

AMS Tuition Pay

AMS Tuition pay requires completion of enrollment form and $35.00 enrollment fee. Four equal payments are due:

Senior Citizen Policy

Citizens 60 years of age or older who wish to audit credit courses on a space available basis may do so tuition-free.

Outstanding Financial Obligations

Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a $20.00 service fee.

Unpaid financial obligations will be assigned to an external collection agency. All collection and related legal costs will be added to the amount of indebtedness.

Certificate of Residence

Residents of Jefferson County

Once each academic year, a student is required by law to present a Certificate of Residence indicating that he or she has been a legal resident of New York State for one year and Jefferson County for six months prior to registration. Students admitted to or returning to the College will receive a Certificate of Residence card with their tuition bill. This card must be completed and returned before the student may attend class.

Other New York State Residents

Students admitted to the College will be mailed an Application for Certificate of Residence with their tuition bill. This application must be completed and returned to the County Treasurer of the county in which the student resided for the six-month period prior to registration. The County Treasurer will then issue a Certificate of Residence which must be returned to the College. This resident status must be certified each year. This Certificate must be completed and returned before the student may attend class.

Indirect Costs

The following annual budgets are used for determining 2009–10 Cost of Attendance at Jefferson Community College based on full time attendance for the fall and spring semesters. These costs are estimates and subject to change without notice.

  3. Will not reside with parents and have dependents that reside at home and for whom you pay childcare cost while in classes.
