It really isn't that hard, and you probably already practice some of the techniques covered by this tutorial. An important skill relating to Information Literacy relates to evaluating information and its sources.
Everyone evaluates information. For example: You may gather information from friends and relatives when you make a purchase or decide what restaurant to go to. More value may be placed on the opinions of certain people based on what is known about the person. If Uncle Joe, who loves Italian food, raves about the lasagna at the new restaurant in town, you might be more inclined to eat there. You have evaluated this information based on who provided it.
In addition to learning how to evaluate information, this tutorial will help you learn how to search for and access reliable sources of information in a variety of formats, how to choose and focus a topic, how to use the information ethically, and much more.
