Distinguished Alumni and Cannoneer Hall of Fame Inductees to be Honored August 15

 Jefferson Community College (JCC) will hold its annual Distinguished Alumni and Cannoneer Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Thursday, August 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the Watertown Elks Lodge, 728 Bradley Street, Watertown.

Three distinguished alumni will be recognized for their professional achievement and exemplary commitment to their community and Jefferson Community College. Two new members will be inducted into the Class of 2013 Cannoneer Hall of Fame for their outstanding athletic success and significant contributions to JCC’s athletic program.    

The 2013 Distinguished Alumni honorees are Mrs. Evelyn (Beattie) Kormanik, Class of 1968, who will receive the Jeffersonian Award for her volunteerism, civic involvement, and humanitarian undertakings, along with Dr. John P. Clark, Class of 1986 and Dr. Stacey (Dunn) Zeigler, Class of 1992, who are both receiving the Professional Achievement Award for significant professional growth and leadership abilities.

Evelyn Kormanik, originally from Watertown and now residing Staten Island, is the founder of the Staten Island Giving Circle, a large community outreach group dedicated to assisting the disadvantaged and underserved in the Staten Island community of New York.  In 2012, she was named a Woman of Achievement by the Staten Island Advance.  John Clark, originally from Watertown and now residing in Dayton, Ohio, is the principal aerospace engineer at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton.   In 2012, he received the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineer of the Year award.  Stacey Zeigler, Hammond, New York, is a clinical associate professor at Clarkson University and owns her own business, Fun in Aging Physical Therapy, P.C., in Hammond. 

The Class of 2013 inductees to the Cannoneer Hall of Fame are Steven H. Brown, Watertown, longtime member of JCC’s athletic board of control and announcer/scorekeeper for the men’s and women’s basketball games; and Steven A. Howard, JCC Class of 1999 and Watertown High School Class of 1996, athlete and basketball player whose records of 51 points scored in a single game coupled with his career total of 1566 points still stand today at JCC.
