JCC to hold Allied Health Info. Session Mar. 20
Jefferson Community College (JCC), in collaboration with Condensed Curriculum International (CCI), will hold an information session for phlebotomy, pharmacy and home healthcare aide training programs on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 6-002, Jules Center (Building 6). Training will be held on JCC’s campus in Watertown beginning in June 2013.
The Phlebotomy Technician training program will run from June 11 through August 22. Phlebotomy technicians draw blood from patients for laboratory analysis. The program consists of 90 hours of classroom training on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Upon successful completion of the program the student will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to sit for the national exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician. The course fee, including the cost of textbooks, is $1599. Application deadline is April 19, 2013.
The Pharmacy Technician training program runs June 17 through August 5. Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, pharmacy technicians work in hospitals, community pharmacies and other healthcare setting. The program consists of 50 hours of classroom training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam. The course fee of $999 includes the cost of textbooks. Application deadline is April 19, 2013.
The Home Healthcare Aide training program will run for 11-weeks beginning June 11 and will wrap up on August 20. Home healthcare aides assist patients in their homes by focusing on their specific health and personal needs. Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. and two Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In addition to understanding the responsibilities of a Home Healthcare Aide, upon completion, students will be prepared to sit for the National Association for Home Care & Hospice Home Care Aide Certification examination. The course fee is $1499 and includes the cost of textbooks. An application is not required for the home healthcare aide program. The deadline to register is June 4.
