JCC to hold Seminar on Administrative Professionals Day, Apr. 24

In honor of National Administrative Professionals Week, Jefferson Community College (JCC) Continuing Education Division will hold an administrative professional’s seminar entitled How High Potential People Speak on Wednesday, April 24 beginning with lunch at 12:00 p.m. in the Walker Instructional Dining Room, McVean Center.

In this 3-hour seminar, attendees will learn how to hone their communications skills and express ideas with confidence to achieve recognition, buy-in and implementation. Seminar topics are learn to present facts crisply and impressively; build better work relationships; upgrade your awareness and listening skills; master key skills in meetings and during discussions; communicate while maintaining a respectful dialogue even in emotional settings; and promote an air of respect and openness. Communication skills will be applied in a variety of scenarios.   

Melanie Upson Rafferty, president and founder of Cortel Improvement Systems, will be presenting. With over 30-years of experience in human services and organizational development, Rafferty develops customized, hands-on solutions to unleash the full potential of individuals and organizations. Change management, team-based systems, interpersonal communications and organizational development are a few areas of her expertise. Rafferty’s diverse client base stems from government, industry, military and commercial business to non-for-profits, healthcare, construction and more.    

The cost to attend the seminar, including lunch, is $50. Companies sending more than one employee are entitled to a $5 discount per person. Registration deadline is 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
