JCC Student Artwork on Display in The Gallery thru May 1

The Gallery at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will feature artwork of current students until Wednesday, May 1. The artwork on display is a combination of water color mandalas created by students in JCC’s basic painting course and ceramic pieces created by students in JCC’s ceramics 1 and 2 courses.

Mandalas, used all over the world for contemplation and meditation purposes, are typically circular to show that order exists in the greater universe. The circle, an intriguing symbol that has no beginning and no end, is symbolic to the still center of the turning world that defines and protects a sacred space within each of us where one can find tranquility and peace.

The Gallery, located on the second level of the Jules Center (Building 6),is open from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. when classes are in session. The public is welcome to come and enjoy JCC’s student talent.

A reception to honor JCC art students will take place on Tuesday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of The Gallery.

On Saturday, May 4 the students’ artwork will be on display at the Kripalu Yoga and Wellness Center, Adams, during its open house from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
