Join us in this Applied Happiness Course, where together we will embark on an exciting journey to discover how to sustain a feeling of lasting happiness. We will start by exploring the science of happiness and the exciting advances in positive psychology that will help us better understand the mechanics of our happiness.Together we will come to understand that only by establishing the correct and supportive environment can we guarantee our individual and collective well-being. This Happiness Course provides tangible skills that will enable you to live in the moment, whereby empowering you to better cope with challenges and overcome obstacles in a balanced way. Our collective experience will be interactive, where we can taste firsthand the ideal state of happiness. You will receive new tools learned from the most recent and advanced scientific research on how to accomplish the desired effects for long-lasting happiness. Among the most effective tools used are playful connection games, collaborative workshops and lively Q&A’s. Practical assignments will be given for you to work with from session to session, enabling you to measure your progress and learn from the collective experience. Great Decisions 2014September 08, 2014 - November 10, 2014

Great Decisions is a civic education program devoted to foreign affairs. The Foreign Policy Association has put together an outstanding briefing book that focuses on Defense Technology, Israel and the U.S., Turkey’s challenges, Islamic Wakening, Energy Independence, Food & Climate, China’s Foreign Policy, and the U.S. Trade Policy. Molly Reilly will be your leader in the classroom to guide you through a thought provoking discussion on the events and happenings that have shaped foreign affairs for 2014.

Introduction to Voice Acting*November 24, 2014

Ever been told you have a great voice? From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class will introduce you to the growing field of voice over. We’ll discuss industry pros and cons and play samples from working voice professionals. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of our teacher. This class is lots of fun, realistic, and a great first step for anyone interested in the voice over field.

Learn to HustleOctober 15, 2014 - November 19, 2014

The Hustle is a catchall name for some disco dances which were extremely popular in the 1970's (remember John Travolta and Saturday Night Fever?). Today it mostly refers to the unique partner dance done in ballrooms and nightclubs to disco music. It has some features in common with swing dance. Its basic steps are somewhat similar to the Discofox, which emerged at about the same time and is more familiar in various European countries. In the 1970's there was also a line dance called the Hustle. Modern partner hustle is sometimes referred to as New York Hustle. The class will consist of three weeks of four-count hustle and three weeks of three-count hustle. Experience is necessary. Partners encouraged but not required.

Marketing & Social Media for Nonprofits*November 15, 2014

This workshop will cover the basics of marketing and social media marketing for nonprofits. We’ll help you with general strategy and planning, as well as basic marketing techniques and give you some tips for getting the word out about your nonprofit and events. Additionally, as communication patterns have shifted, how your organization uses social media can greatly impact your nonprofit’s reputation and relationships with the community. We’ll walk you through social media setup and integration and sending a consistent message across multiple platforms.

Pencil DrawingOctober 18, 2014 - October 25, 2014

Enroll in this basic class and learn the fundamentals of sketching and basic drawing techniques in a fun, laid back format! The topics covered will include using a grid, the components of a picture, hard and soft lines, basic shading, blending and layering, as well as smudging. You will create a drawing to bring home with you. You may bring an 8 x 10 of what you want to draw, or the instructor will have an option for you in class. This workshop is six hours and you will receive a bit of homework to accomplish in the week between the classes.
