On Campus Workshops
Figure DrawingJuly 09, 2014 - July 30, 2014

This workshop is open to adults who want to learn basic figure drawing. Class will begin each week with inspirational information about the figure. Participants will learn numerous techniques while working from the live model in the classroom and will have the opportunity to see a variety of styles used by various individual artists. A $4 additional material cost will be collected each night of the workshop.

Join us in this Applied Happiness Course, where together we will embark on an exciting journey to discover how to sustain a feeling of lasting happiness. We will start by exploring the science of happiness and the exciting advances in positive psychology that will help us better understand the mechanics of our happiness.Together we will come to understand that only by establishing the correct and supportive environment can we guarantee our individual and collective well-being. This Happiness Course provides tangible skills that will enable you to live in the moment, whereby empowering you to better cope with challenges and overcome obstacles in a balanced way. Our collective experience will be interactive, where we can taste firsthand the ideal state of happiness. You will receive new tools learned from the most recent and advanced scientific research on how to accomplish the desired effects for long-lasting happiness. Among the most effective tools used are playful connection games, collaborative workshops and lively Q&A’s. Practical assignments will be given for you to work with from session to session, enabling you to measure your progress and learn from the collective experience. Crocheting is a skill that creates beautiful handcrafted items. Blankets, scarfs, and mittens, are legacy pieces to hand down to future generations. It isn’t as difficult as it looks. Introduction to ActingAugust 04, 2014 - August 06, 2014

This workshop is an intensive, interactive, and fun opportunity that will cover motivation, preparation, scene analysis, improvisation and emotional and sensory exercises. Craig Thornton has been a working playwright and theater director for over twenty years, working intimately with actors in the rehearsal process and through production. He studied acting with the Marketa Kimbrall at NYU’s Tisch conservatory for over a year. This workshop will be on Monday & Wednesday.

JCC offers state of the art fitness equipment, with personal attention to individual’s needs and fitness goals.
