Musicians Invited to Join JCC Community Orchestra/Wind Ensemble

The Community Orchestra and Wind Ensemble at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will begin spring concert rehearsals on February 17th at the Robert R. and Jean S. Sturtz Theater.

Both the orchestra and wind ensemble are open to area musicians, and interested community members are invited to join either or both ensembles. In previous years, the groups have been comprised of high school students, college students, and active and retired music teachers, members of the 10th Mountain Division Band, and other community members. There is no audition to join.

Rehearsals will take place Wednesday evenings February 17th through May 5th, concluding with a free concert for the community on Wednesday, May 12th. Accompanying the Community Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will be the Knickerbocker Elementary School choir, featuring a special musical presentation on the Erie Canal.

The Community Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will study and perform a broad selection of musical works under the baton of conductor and director of military programs, Donald R. Johnson.
