Author Bob Deans at JCC on Sept. 20

 

On Thursday, September 20 the Center for Community Studies (CCS) will host a civic engagement lecture with respect to the environment featuring author, Bob Deans. The lecture, held in Sturtz Theater, will take place at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Bob Deans was a correspondent for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution for 25 years and former president of the White House Correspondents Association before joining the National Resources Defense Council. He has authored, co-authored and contributed to a number of books including most recent Reckless: the Political Assault on the American Environment. Other titles include The River Where America Began: A Journey Along the James; In Deep Water: The Anatomy of a Disaster, the Fate of the Gulf and How to End our Oil Addiction.

The Center launched its Civic Engagement Speakers Series in March 2012 with guest speakers Assemblyman Kevin Cahill and Assemblywoman Addie Russell on the topic of Article X Energy Law. On September 13, 2012 the Center hosted its second speaker, John Zogby with presentation “Who Votes, Who Doesn’t and Why.”
