Deadline to Apply for Phlebotomy Technician Training is Jan. 16, 2015

Phlebotomy technicians draw blood from patients for laboratory analysis. Anyone interested in an allied health career as a phlebotomy technician should check into the 14-week pre-certification training program offered at Jefferson Community College (JCC). The deadline to apply for the phlebotomy technician training program at JCC is January 16, 2015.

The Phlebotomy Technician training program consists of 90 hours of instruction including terminology, anatomy, physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Upon successful completion, students will be prepared to function as an entry level phlebotomy technician and take the National Healthcareer Association phlebotomy technician exam.  The program runs March 17 through June 16, 2015. Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on JCC’s campus in Watertown. The course fee, including the cost of textbooks, is $1599.

In addition to offering the Phlebotomy Technician training program, JCC’s Continuing Education Division also provides Pharmacy Technician, Medical Billing and Coding, ICD-10-CM Coding, and Health Information Technology pre-certification programs
