Super Science Saturday on Feb. 8

Where’s the hot spot for families in the midst of the North Country winter?  At Jefferson Community College (JCC)!  The College’s 7th Annual Super Science Saturday (SSS) event will take place on February 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Although designed for students in grades 5-8, all family members are welcome to attend. Admission is free.

SSS is a celebration of math and science and an exploration of science careers with interactive exhibits including a giant 20-foot long, walk through colon exhibit kids won’t want to miss. Students will have the opportunity to explore and see how much fun science can be by participating in hands-on demonstrations. JCC faculty, assisted by current students, will give demonstrations in zoo keeping, chemistry, biology, geology, math, engineering and health-related careers. SSS will feature a chemistry magic show presented by James Peploski of Clarkson University and a laser and rainbow show presented by Thomas C. Altman. Several community organizations will be on hand to share career information and provide interactive activities with students.

SSS will take place at JCC in the Jules Center, McVean Student Center and the Guthrie Science Building. Concessions, parking, a campus map and programs will be available at the event.

For more information, please call the Science Division at JCC, 315-786-2320.

Super Science Saturday is sponsored by WWNY TV 7 / WNYF Fox 28, JCC Foundation, Faculty Student Association, Social Cultural Committee, JCC Women’s Organization and the Science Division at JCC. The inflatable colon is made possible by the JCC Campus Activities Board.
