Holiday Community Concerts to Take Place at JCC

Ring in the holiday season with joyful sounds of Jefferson Community College (JCC) students and North Country community members! Community concerts will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Sturtz Theater and admission is free.

The Jefferson Singers (the college’s official choir) and Jazz Rock Ensemble will perform a variety of seasonal selections for the community on Thursday, December 3. The Jefferson Singers are under the direction of Sue A. Gamet, Rodman, and the Jazz Rock Ensemble is under the direction of Steven B. Lester, Sackets Harbor.

Under the baton of conductor Daniel L. Mosher, Carthage, the JCC Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will perform their annual holiday concert for the community on Friday, December 11.  A holiday trumpet selection and two songs composed and arranged by composers of the SUNY Potsdam Crane School of Music are part of the program along with other selections such as “March of Toys” from the 1960’s film Babes in Toyland.

The Jefferson Singers, jazz rock ensemble, and orchestra and wind ensembles are credit-bearing humanities courses open to anyone. Community members, not seeking college credit, may join the music ensembles by registering with payment through the JCC Continuing Education Division, 315-786-2233. Individuals, age 60 and over, may qualify for a tuition waiver to join the ensemble for free by contacting the JCC Advising Center, 315-786-2277.
