Jerilyn Fairman Named JCC Associate Vice President for Liberal Arts

Jefferson Community College (JCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jerilyn E. Fairman, Watertown, to the position of Associate Vice President for Liberal Arts. Mrs. Fairman has over 28-years of experience in higher education as both an administrator and faculty member. She most recently served as the College’s Dean for Instructional Support, Assessment, and Accreditation.

Mrs. Fairman joined Jefferson in 1989 as a faculty member and advanced to the rank of professor. In 2010, she was named the Dean of Curriculum followed by the Dean of Instructional Support, Assessment and Accreditation in 2013. Additionally, she held the position of Title IX Coordinator and Student Compliance Officer. She has also held numerous leadership roles on campus, including department chair of the mathematics department, campus general education coordinator/assessment coordinator, and mathematics high school liaison, as well as having served on the JCC academic affairs committee, campus life committee and many more. Most recently, Mrs.  Fairman co-chaired Jefferson’s 2015 Middle States accreditation which resulted in the College being re-accredited for 10 years. Her contributions to Jefferson over the years have been instrumental!  

As Dean for Instructional Support, Assessment, and Accreditation, Mrs. Fairman supervised the Library, including tutoring services, while overseeing accreditation activities and strategic and academic planning initiatives. Serving the dual role of Title IX Coordinator and Student Compliance Officer, Fairman coordinated all aspects of the College’s Title IX compliance and Non-discrimination Policy, including policy development, training and grievance procedures. 

Mrs. Fairman holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany.
