5th Annual Garrett W. Loomis Fire Safety Seminar Apr. 9

“Incident Scene Safety: Leadership and Accountability” is the focus of this year’s Annual Garrett W. Loomis Fire Safety Seminar to be held at Jefferson Community College (JCC) on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Sturtz Theater. Registration is free and open to all fire, rescue and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel.

This incident safety officer’s training course has been developed to help control this unacceptable loss of human life and limb of one of our County’s most important resources, the fire fighter. All members should think in the role of “Incident Safety Officer”, regardless of their rank in the department and will benefit from this training program. This course used “Rube’s Rules for Survival” as the program textbook.

Register online. For more information, contact Captain TG Kolb of the Watertown Fire Department at tkolb@sunyjefferson.edu.  There is no deadline to register and walk-ins are welcome.

Sponsored by the JCC Fire Protection Technology Program.

The seminar is part of the Garrett W. Loomis Fire Safety and Educational Series made possible through the Northern New York Community Foundation and the Garrett Loomis Fund. Loomis was the Assistant Fire Chief of the Sackets Harbor Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Firefighters Local F-105 Fort Drum Fire and Emergency Services when he died in April 2010 on the scene of a silo fire.
