JCC’s Social Science Department and Literacy of Northern New York to host Scrabble® Tournament

Jefferson Community College’s Social Science Department and Literacy of Northern New York are sponsoring a Scrabble® Tournament from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016. The event will be held at the Walker Instructional Dining Room in the Jules Center (building 6), at Jefferson Community College. There is a $25 registration fee for adults and a $10 fee for students. Teams must register no later than April 27, 2016.

Teams may consist of up to four players, but individual players are welcome to attend. Players must bring their own Scrabble® boards. A full list of contest rules will be sent to all teams that pre-register. The tournament consists of two divisions: junior for students up through high school and senior for adults. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team in each division. Proceeds from the event will benefit local literacy programs in Jefferson and Lewis Counties.

Literacy of Northern New York provides one-to-one tutoring to adults who need help with reading, writing, math or English as a second language. For more information or to register, contact Cecilia Brock, Executive Director of Literacy of Northern New York, at 782-4270.
