JCC Releases Black River Review Volume XXVI

The Jefferson Community College (JCC) English department released Volume XXVI of the Black River Review, a journal of poetry, musical arrangements, prose and fine arts,on Wednesday, May 4, during a campus reading, recital and presentation. Students were recognized for their outstanding contributions in art, writing, and music. The Black River Review cover art, a colorized in drawing titled Oh, What a Beautiful Doll, is the work of JCC student Logan A. Laisdell of Adams Center.  

Recipients of the Outstanding Art Contribution Award are Logan A. Laisdell for her pieces including her painting submission Bull Terrier Outside at the Doghouse and collage Brighten Up Your Halloween Spirit; Annastasia F. Khoury of Black River for her collage City on the Horizon, ink Halcyon Days, and collage Phases of Life; and Erin M. Potter of Lowville for her collage pieces Grave and Gotham.

Recipient of the Outstanding Music Contribution Award is Phuc “Brian” Vo of Evans Mills for his composition titled “String Quartet.”    

Recipient of the Outstanding Writing Contribution Award is Austin K. Ryan of Adams for an excerpt from his high fiction novel The Great Hunt. Complimentary copies of the Black River Review are available at the campus bookstore in Jules Center (Building 6) and the College Library.

In late June, the publication can be viewed online at www.sunyjefferson.edu (click on “News and Events” and then “Publications”). The editors of the Black River Review receive submissions from Jefferson students, alumni, faculty and staff.

The Black River Review is sponsored by the JCC English department and the JCC Faculty Student Association.
