The American Cancer Society has designated Jefferson Community College (JCC) a “Relay Community” for its past, current and future support of Relay for Life and cancer research. The JCC Relay for Life team, formed in 2001, has raised more than $80,000 in support of cancer research. Of the many initiatives of the JCC Relay for Life team, a few fundraising activities include Coaches versus Cancer basketball games; Pink Out Games for breast cancer awareness hosted by the JCC volleyball and men/women’s soccer teams; craft and bake sales; wine tasting; scrapbook crop; gift wrapping and others.

“This designation is a thank you to the college for their years of dedication and support,” says Donald J. Boshart, American Cancer Society Community Executive.

“I offer my heartiest congratulations to the Relay for Life Team at Jefferson,” said College president Carole A. McCoy. “They have engaged the campus community in a variety of events to support the Relay mission and are most deserving of this recognition from the American Cancer Society.”
