David J. Males Appointed to the JCC Board of Trustees

On November 8, 2016, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo appointed David J. Males, of Clayton, to the Jefferson Community College (JCC) Board of Trustees. Males is the Vice President and General Manager of WWTI ABC 50 Watertown and the North Country CW television stations both owned by Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc.

Males’ started his 28-year career in broadcast television in 1988 as an account executive and original staff member for the brand new Watertown ABC affiliate WFYF TV 50. In 1990, he joined CBS affiliate WWNY TV 7 as an account executive before returning to the local ABC affiliate in 1997 as WWTI’s General Sales Manager. Over the years Males rose through the ranks and, as vice president and general manager since June 2000, oversees complete operations for WWTI and its sister station, the North Country CW, which Males helped launch in 2006.

Males is active in many community organizations and serves on several boards, including for the Greater Watertown North Country Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Transitional Living Services and he serves on the marketing committee for the Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization. He is the local chairman for the Coaches vs. Cancer program of the American Cancer Society Coaches and a member of the Clayton Jazz Festival committee.

Males holds a bachelor of arts in special studies with a major in radio and television from State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia and an associate in applied arts in communications – radio/television from Onondaga Community College.

Males’ appointment fills the unexpired term of James P. Scordo through June 2019.
