Jefferson Announces Appointment of Foundation Executive Director

Jefferson Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Gregory J. Griffin, Liverpool, to the position of Executive Director for the Jefferson Community College (JCC) Foundation. As the chief development officer for the Foundation, Mr. Griffin will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic advancement objectives for the College’s annual, major, planned and capital giving programs as well as alumni relations. He brings over 20 years of non-profit leadership experience and skills in fundraising, strategic planning, financial administration, and developing community partnerships. He has worked with several institutions of higher education and non-profits throughout New York State including St. Lawrence University, Syracuse University and SUNY Oswego. Mr. Griffin holds a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Alfred University, a bachelor of arts in English Writing and Government from St. Lawrence University and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

Gregory GriffinGregory Griffin Mr. Griffin has spent most of his career in the Central and Northern New York regions and most recently served six years as the Congregational Director of Mission Advancement for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities in Syracuse. During his tenure, Mr. Griffin lead efforts to raise over $20 million to support operations, ministry, and care for the 400-plus-member religious community. Mr. Griffin was highly involved in strategic planning and priority realignment for several key ministries including vocations, merchandise and memorabilia, prayer and spiritual programs, Stella Maris Retreat Center and the St. Marianne Cope Shrine and Museum.

Prior to his role as Congressional Director of Mission Advancement, Mr. Griffin held several positions in advancement including associate vice president of alumni relations and development at SUNY Oswego, senior director of library development and external relations Syracuse University and director of alumni and parent programs at St. Lawrence University.

Being active in his professional and personal communities has been a priority for Mr. Griffin. He has served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Catholic Development Conference, as a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Central New York, on the Board of Directors for the Radisson Greens Golf Club and as a Parish Council Member of the Pope John XXIII Catholic Church. He currently lives in Liverpool with his wife Sarah, daughters, Taylor and Emma, and son, Ben.

Mr. Griffin’s first day at Jefferson Community College was Monday, January 2, 2017.
