JCC Launches New Chemical Dependency Certificate Online

Jefferson Community College (JCC) announces the launch of a new online certificate program in Chemical Dependency beginning fall 2017. Classes begin August 28 and prospective students may apply for admission immediately. Applying to JCC is free.

The chemical dependency certificate program at Jefferson requires pre-requisites. Applicants much have a minimum of one year experience working in a human services related field and/or a minimum of an associate’s degree in a human services related field. In addition to the College’s admission application, applicants must complete a chemical dependency supplemental application and provide one academic or work reference.

Jefferson’s chemical dependency certificate program is approved by New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and meets the required 350 educational hours necessary prior to applying for the Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification and CASAC Trainee (CASAC-T) certification. The program consists of 8-week condensed courses online and may be completed in one year.

In addition to the online certificate program, Jefferson offers an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree program in Chemical Dependency. College credits earned while enrolled in the certificate program will transfer to the Chemical Dependency degree program at a later date. Registration for fall 2017 classes is ongoing.

For more information about the chemical dependency certificate program, contact Trisha Howell, instructor of human services and chemical dependency, at thowell@sunyjefferson.edu or call JCC Enrollment Services at (315) 786-2437.
