Jefferson Community College (JCC) Facilities Department is the recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Jefferson Award. Retired President Carole A. McCoy established the Spirit of Jefferson Award in 2011 to recognize a campus team that demonstrates cooperative effort and achieves exemplary results.

The Facilities Department at Jefferson is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of 11 buildings on campus including East Hall, the College’s on-campus housing facility, mail delivery and duplicating needs of the campus. While working long hours, facilities’ staff are oftentimes the first to arrive on campus during winter storms and the last to leave. They work diligently to provide curb appeal and maintain healthy, attractive landscapes on campus. Furthermore, the Facilities Department plays an essential role in moving the campus towards sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.

Past recipients of the Spirit of Jefferson Award are JCC Women’s Organization (2011), Science Division (2012) for their Super Science Saturday event, Library Learning Center (2013), JCC’s Relay for Life team (2014), JCC EverGREEN Committee (2015) and JCC’s North Country Community Cup Team (2016), Chaos Patrol (2017).
