JCC to Honor Cannoneer Hall of Fame Inductees Aug. 19

Jefferson Community College (JCC) will induct new members into the Cannoneer Hall of Fame at a special ceremony on Friday, August 19, 2011 in the Jules Center Commons (Building 6) at 5:30 p.m.

The Class of 2011 honorees are former athletes Joy W. Zimmerman ’92 of Adams and Terry L. Biedekapp of Brownville; former coach and physical education instructor, Malcolm C. Biedekapp of Dexter; former basketball coach and athletic director, John F. Penrose of Watertown; sports reporter and honorary alumnus, Melvin J. Busler ’07 of Watertown; and founder of the JCC lacrosse program, Peter N. Gaskin of Adams Center (awarded posthumously).  

The Jefferson Cannoneers have a 40+ year history that features many outstanding teams, seasons and athletes including All-Americans, several National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association championship teams and All-Region players.

Inductees to the Cannoneer Hall of Fame are selected by a committee comprised of Jefferson staff, coaches and community members from nominations received from throughout the community.

To be eligible for induction, candidates must be nominated as a past Jefferson athlete, group or team who achieved outstanding success or had a major impact on Jefferson athletics. Non-alumni coaches, administrators and special friends of the College who contributed significantly to JCC’s athletic program are also eligible for consideration.
