Cannoneers Named to NJCAA 2011 Academic All-Region Team

Jefferson Community College (JCC) is pleased to announce eight JCC athletes have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region III 2011 Academic All-Region Team. To be eligible for this honor, athletes must complete forty-five or more credit hours of course work and maintain a 3.5 grade point average.

May 2011 graduates and distinguished athletes are: Joshua J. Lothrop of Chaumont, engineering science major and defender for the JCC men’s soccer team; Teddi L. Filiatrault of Antwerp, childhood education major and midfielder for the JCC women’s soccer team; Kaelee R. McCormick of Watertown, human services major and middle hitter for the JCC volleyball team; Hannah R. Curinga of Adams, liberal arts humanities and social sciences major and guard for the JCC women’s basketball team; Brandon R. Cavalet of Evans Mills, criminal justice major and pitcher for the JCC baseball team; and Nolan R. K. Bodah of Watertown, liberal arts mathematics and science major and infielder on the JCC baseball team. 

Additionally, two sophomores, Heather N. McManus, of Boonville, and Jillian M. E. Young, of Watertown, were also named to the NJCAA Region III 2011 Academic All-Region Team. McManus, a liberal arts mathematics and science major, plays third baseman for the JCC softball team. Young, a nursing major, plays midfielder for the JCC women’s lacrosse team.

JCC athletes compete in Region III Division III of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
