JCC Campus Care Open House Nov. 15–18

In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, Campus Care at Jefferson Community College (JCC) will hold an open house daily from Monday, November 15 through Thursday, November 18. On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, the open house will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Former Campus Care children and their families, prospective and current Jefferson students, community members, faculty, and staff are invited to visit Campus Care during the Open House.

In 1990, JCC’s Campus Care opened under the direction of New Day Children’s Center and served thirty children between the ages of 3 and 5. Today, Campus Care falls under the umbrella of the JCC Faculty Student Association and serves 40 children, 21 months to 5 years of age, employs six team teachers—all of whom hold an associate’s degree in early childhood from JCC—and three substitute teachers. Campus Care provides internships for JCC early childhood majors and employment for college students through work study funding.

JCC’s Campus Care is a New York State licensed facility that received national accreditation by the National Association of the Education of Young Children in 2000. Located on the Watertown campus, it operates during fall and spring semester, providing services for JCC students, faculty, and staff. Financial subsidies are available for JCC students to help defray the cost of childcare.
