Transfer Counseling
If you are planning to enroll in another college after studying at JCC, transfer counselors are available to assist you with planning your JCC programs accordingly, gathering information about transfer colleges, and initiating the transfer process. Jefferson has transfer agreements with many four-year colleges which outline requirements for specific programs. Four-year college admissions recruiters visit JCC during Transfer Day each fall and regularly throughout the college year.
Transfer counseling and career assessment, used to help determine a college major, are provided through individual appointments with a counselor. SUNY applications, college catalogs and CDs, transfer information flyers, career information and exploration programs, and college videos are available in our resource room on a walk-in basis during normal operating hours. Transfer counseling provides the following services:
- Individual Counseling Sessions
- Career Counseling and Assessments
- Transfer/Articulation Agreements
- Four-Year College Recruiter Visits
- Transfer Applications
- Review of College Essays
- Career/Transfer Resource Room
Transfer Guarantee: State University of New York guarantees an A.A. or A.S. graduate of a SUNY College the opportunity to continue at a four-year SUNY unit. Acceptance to a specific college or curriculum is not guaranteed. To qualify for the program students must follow the requirement and deadlines outlined in the SUNY Application Guidebook.
The mission of the Counseling Center at JCC is to foster personal, educational, and career development for students and alumni and to provide educational and career information to community members. Counselors are available by appointment to assist you in the areas of career, personal support, and transfer counseling.
A resource room provides career and college guides, life skills leaflets, employment resources, plus a collection of New York State college catalogs. A computer station is available to access career assessments, career and college information, and job-hunting information
