How to begin your career path at Jefferson:

Jefferson Community College can help link you to a career in the field of advertising through its Associate of Science degree in Business Administration.  Although one might also find this degree helpful as a preparation for entry-level employment in the field, this degree’s primary purpose is to prepare students to transfer to a four year college to complete a Bachelor’s degree.  Besides business courses, a student may also prepare themselves with some art/graphic design courses that would give them additional skills in preparing visually striking projects.  Those interested in entering the work force directly should enroll in the Associate in Applied Science degree at JCC.  Students will be enrolled in accounting, business, economics, math (both statistics and algebra) and liberal arts courses necessary for transfer.  Students should work closely with their faculty advisor and transfer counselor regarding transfer planning.  Popular Bachelor’s degree programs for transfer include SUNY Potsdam (see JCC’s A.S./B.S. jointly registered degree), Franklin University, SUNY Oswego, Cazenovia College and Clarkson University.  JCC also offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration for those planning to enter the workforce directly.

Students might also consider beginning at JCC with an Associate of Arts-Humanities & Social Sciences degree because of the communications, art, photography and design skills used in some careers within the advertising field.
