Watertown Liberty Partnership Program
Jefferson Community College, Watertown, New York, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, seeks an hourly professional to begin immediately. The college, in partnership with the Watertown City School District, has been awarded a $1.25 million Liberty Partnership Program grant to assist local high school students graduate, promote college readiness and career development. This individual will need to have NYS Fingerprinting clearance and will work primarily during the 40-week school year.
The Learning Skills Specialist will work with students in grades 9-12 on building youth leadership skills, community service learning, academic success, personal growth, and social skills through an array of programmed purposeful events, outreach activities and academic coaching in one-to-one and group sessions. There will also be a heavy focus on college and career preparedness. The position will work off-site at the Watertown City School District. There may be some evening and weekend responsibilities.
Required: Bachelor’s degree plus one to two years appropriate professional experience.
Preferred: Experience at working with students in an educational setting and NYS Fingerprinting Clearance.

The Faculty Student Association of Jefferson Community College, Inc. has a 12 month Resident Director open position for the 2018-2019 academic year. The Resident Director position is responsible for the overall administration of a coeducational residence hall community of approximately 300 students. The Resident Director plays an integral role in implementing the mission of the Housing & Residence Life program which includes helping students to thrive academically, personally, socially, and to find a connection to the college. The Residence Life duties include the supervision of housing assistants, resident assistants, staff selection, training, and evaluation; counseling, advisement, conflict resolution, crisis management, mediation, and referral of students; hall and campus programming, student conduct, facilities management, general building administration, and other departmental expectations. The Resident Director Staff members are responsible to represent the Office of Housing & Residence Life at meetings with faculty, staff and other community members as requested. This is a live-on position with evening and weekend on-call duty employment responsibilities.
Qualifications: A Master’s degree and one year experience preferred; or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years experience in the student housing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ability to live on-site.
The ability to understand and adhere to policies and procedures, use basic math skills, and exercise effective verbal and written communication skills with residents and guests.
Experience in Residence Life, student development, wellness programming, events planning, crisis prevention and intervention.
