JCC Bookstore

Students attending Jefferson Community College will be able to pick up all the textbooks and supporting materials they need in one convenient package, at a reduced price. If you’re eligible for financial aid, you can use it towards the purchase of the textbooks or you can apply for a scholarship to help cover the costs.  

JCC wants to make it easier and more affordable for you to get all of your textbooks in one convenient place. We are proud to introduce the Boomer Bundle program at the Bookstore to get you ready for classes.

 

Steps to get your Boomer Bundle

  1. Register for Classes (if you haven't already)
  2. Reserve your Boomer Bundle with the Bookstore online starting 30 days before the 1st day of classes.
    • Your Username is your JCC email address
    • Your Password is your Student ID
    • No payment will be necessary at the time of securing your box of learning materials! Textbook costs are included in your student account.
  3. Pick them up at JCC's bookstore before classes start (or have them shipped to you for $8.99)

Frequently Asked Questions

The Boomer Bundle of Books is a course material model that lowers the cost of materials for students and ensures students have access to all of their required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this new program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within Bright Space. Costs will be charged to the student's account. For the 2024-2025 year, the cost is $26 per credit hour. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return their physical course materials to the bookstore.

  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials.
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you).
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships.
The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.
The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, molecular model kits, chef beanie, chef pants, chef checkered jacket, knife set, chef supplies, or nursing kits.

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the Boomer Bundle of Books program.

While this program is expected to ease the process of obtaining your required course materials. You have the option to opt-out of this program and can purchase your course materials. 

Students can opt-out between August 12, 2024 and September 13, 2024. 

If you choose to opt-out of the program, it is your responsibility to have the required course materials before the first day of class.

Students will be directed by email through Barnes & Noble College.  Barnes and Noble College will collect students’ decisions on opt-out, opting back in.  Students who opt-out will also receive an email asking them if they wish to reconsider and opt-in.

Boomer Bundle is available for Fall and Spring semesters (including early and late sessions) and Summer session. Boomer Bundle is not available for Winter session. Learning materials may be purchased in the Bookstore or online.

Payment

Costs will be charged to the student's account. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return their physical course materials to the bookstore.

The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals; Thursday, May 16, 2024. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their email address.

Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate 

Yes, if the student does not opt-out, their materials will be held at the bookstore and their student account will be charged.

Materials

When you verify your order (sometime within the 30 days before classes start), the system will ask if you would like to pick your books up at the bookstore at no additional charge, or if you would like them shipped to you for a flat rate fee. The fee for UPS Ground is $8.99 per order, no matter the amount of items included, and that charge can be paid using any valid online tender (including financial aid funds you may have available in the bookstore).

Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials.  Students may purchase their materials at the college bookstore located in the Jules Building.

Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.

Students will receive email from the bookstore to remind them to verify their order until either the student confirms their Boomer Bundle or opt out.  If the student does not opt-out, their rental materials will be held at the bookstore, digital materials will be accessible within the LMS and their student account will be charged.

Yes, you will have 48 hours to return your textbooks. If you do not return the textbooks, the charges for the bundle will go back onto your student account.

Students may write and highlight in the books. Barnes and Noble College expects normal wear and tear. There may be a charge assessed for any book that is returned in poor condition (not able to rent in another semester).

Students may get the same exact book back in a continuation if there is advance notice.  Contact the Bookstore for information.
